The projects on Madison Street are my favorite kind of projects. Well-behaved, multiethnic (Chinese, Hispanic, Black, me) and not dangerous because they’re in Manhattan. Lower Manhattan. Technically Lower East Side, de facto Chinatown, bordering on the East River, swimmable to my borough and conveniently located by the East Broadway F.
The address above is the address to reach if you wish to apply for public housing. I suggest you request any of the complexes on Madison Street like the Al Smith Houses or the Vladeck Houses.
The projects have a slim, sunburned homogenicity to them. Their design is not unlike that of Co-op Village to the north of the projects on Madison Street. See for yourself.
