Flowers and Firewater

Sycamore is the most happening bar in Ditmas Park, discounting the underground hip-hop/rave-type revels I see in so many cellars on Coney Island Avenue.

Sycamore is the fanciest place to drink I can think of in my neighborhood, though I do not live in Ditmas Park. The prices are more than appropriate. At happy hour, a $3 Lionshead becomes $1.50 if you win the coin flip with the bartender. Flowers are sold during the day; a bouquet and a brew is advertised on chalkboard at a bank-breaking $10.

Attractively adorned with dark wood, a trillion bourbons, flowers in the front (it’s a flower store by day) and a bizarrely amicable heterogeneous clientele, I suggest Sycamore for all your civilized drinking needs.

Musicmaking in the mysterious basement, barbecues in the backyard. Sycamore: It’s swell.
