Demographically Disparate Drinking Den

I have heard it described as a cheesy, hoi polloi bar with drink specials full of workingmen in suits, and a dive bar full of people who just got off work in midtown, though these words were partially spoken by myself. Rudy’s is a bar that sells $2.50 drafts, $7 pitchers, plays its music too loudly and intermixes he-man suits with old-timey Brooklynite types, Everyman locals, city newbies and me. People like me go to this bar.

Free hot dogs make up for the fact that the red leather booths are filled up with motley patrons and unavailable for latecoming seating purposes. Very pretty light fixtures and jockish looking bartenders in old fashioned vests put the nail in the coffin of multifaceted, demographic expansiveness and style inconsistency. Seriously. They’re in Hell’s Kitchen and don’t suck.

In the summer, they have a patio. Or so I’ve heard.
