The Illini Union serves as a main hub for campustown. Located on the edge of the quad, the Illini Union is a multipurpose building which houses a lot of concernts, panel discussions, etc. It is a great place for students to eat, hang out, and study. It also has four floors of hotel rooms for visitors to the campus.
Remember that classic film, “Footloose” with the ever relevant and nimble Kevin Bacon? If you were a fan and the idea of repressed artistic expression excites you, might I suggest moving to Pakistan. More specifically, the fantastically traditional province of North West Frontier Province where you'll feel like you're walking straight into said movie except that everybody's Islamic, and you're not allowed to talk about movies let alone even think about movies.
The projects on Madison Street are my favorite kind of projects. Well-behaved, multiethnic (Chinese, Hispanic, Black, me) and not dangerous because they’re in Manhattan. Lower Manhattan. Technically Lower East Side, de facto Chinatown, bordering on the East River, swimmable to my borough and conveniently located by the East Broadway F.
The address above is the address to reach if you wish to apply for public housing. I suggest you request any of the complexes on Madison Street like the Al Smith Houses or the Vladeck Houses.
