I went to my very first pub crawl recently. The Greenwich Village Literary Pub Crawl takes place every Saturday and meanders throughout the streets once haunted by famous poets and authors. I got my ticket from Living Social Network so it was only $10, instead of the usual $20. I was really excited for this event because I love all things literary. Authors fascinate me and I love to learn about their lives and see where they lived and where they drank. This tour gave me lots of new information and I had a lot of fun drinking my way through the village as well.
I went to hear Julie Powell read from her new memoir, Cleaving: A Story of Marriage, Meat, and Obsession, at one of my favorite indie bookstores, McNally Jackson. Julie Powell was shockingly down-to-earth for someone who wrote a bestselling memoir, Julie and Julia, and then had Amy Adams play her in the movie version of said memoir.
