I guess when you grow up on this quaint little street in Brooklyn, one of the best places to build your mini igloo is in the pile of plowed snow on the edge of the tree-lined sidewalk. Growing up outside of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, I had PLENTY of snow to play in in the backyard and would never have gone near the snow so close to the road.
Temporary architecture, created by children with snow is so incredible. There were 3 of these all lined up on my walk to hot yoga on Saturday. So much better than a snowman!

1. In the main stream, headlines would indicate that food safety was the biggest food story of 2009. Peanut butter potentially caused nine deaths and sparked the single largest food recall in US history. As a result, the House passed a landmark food safety bill.
One-fifth into The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan, I am fully engrosed (play on "grose' intended). Thus far, this best seller, divided into three sections (namely: industrial, pastoral, and personal) is abundantly clear and exceedingly informative without sacrificing a morsel of interest. If you are into food, as they say, this is a must-read.
The idea of classic food elevated is hardly anything new. Upscale snacks, reimagined comfort foods, and homemade versions of everything from marshmellows to animal crackers can be tracked down in this food climate, especially in a city like New York. But, this fact does not make it any less impressive when a classic is reimagined well, and with great product; enter, Bark Hot Dogs in Park Slope.
