1. What is Mapcidy?

Mapcidy is a blog & online community with maps. You can post reviews, news, and recommendations to the blog which then show up on maps.

 

2. How do I get started? Where are the 3D Maps?

It's easy. All you need to do is sign up for a free account here. The site is best viewed in Firefox. Just install the Google Earth Browser Plugin and your 3D Maps will come to life!

 

3. How do I post to my map?

Login to your account. You will then see the account block at upper right with your user name at the top. Click on the Add a Spot to My Map link You will then see the Submit Post page. Fill out the fields on the form. Make sure to follow the directions closely. If you accidentally left out any fields on the form, including the title, image, city, state, or location, you will see the page below with the missing fields outlined in red.

 

4. Why can't I post my review or image?

You are required to add an image to any post for the maps. Make sure your image is less than 2MB is file size (right click and select properties on PC- select file and press Apple i to get info). And make sure you image is no more than 430 pixels in width.

 

5. How do I change my image size before posting?

To view or change image size, on PC you can use Paint or Photoshop. On Mac you can use Photoshop.


6. Why won't my post show up on the map? Or why does it show up in the wrong spot?

Most often this is because you didn't enter an exact address or a cross street. This works: 12 East 81st st This works: 11th st and 3rd ave This doesn't work: 5th st bet. park and madison
