1849. A sports bar. If you knew me, you would never think that I find myself in sports bars fairly often. I am from Pittsburgh and I have to go somewhere to watch the game and feel the Black and Gold. It’s in our blood, there is NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT IT. And oh, we are the Super Bowl Champions. Or at least, at the time this occurred (as opposed to the time it was written) we were.
I went to my very first pub crawl recently. The Greenwich Village Literary Pub Crawl takes place every Saturday and meanders throughout the streets once haunted by famous poets and authors. I got my ticket from Living Social Network so it was only $10, instead of the usual $20. I was really excited for this event because I love all things literary. Authors fascinate me and I love to learn about their lives and see where they lived and where they drank. This tour gave me lots of new information and I had a lot of fun drinking my way through the village as well.

As paranoia grows over a nuclear-armed (Islamic Republic of) Iran and local Chasidim do nothing to dispel rumors of Jewish blood libel, Hip-Hop is once again the voice of reason, denouncing bullshit and promoting positive change. Such is the foundation of The Hip Hop Sulhaْ, wherein Jewish and Muslim artists come together "to celebrate peace and religious tolerance via the performing arts".
I'm still reconciling with the idea of Jay Reatard, whose angle I have yet to find— almost as if Sam Kinison were delivering the pop culture manifesto with a maniacal positivity that brings the likes of Andrew W.K. to mind. But damned if I won't support mad pop music that shows great potential for wide appeal!
Kailash Kher’s meteoric rise from a humble upbringing outside of New Delhi to being appointed a judge for the 2008-09 season of Indian Idol – all before the age of 30 – is nothing less than remarkable. It is also a testament to the strength and appeal of what is undeniably one of the most unique voices in Indian music today.
For the most part in the literary world, it is not always recommended to write in the first person when reviewing restaurants or the like, however, my experience of this particular encounter was so poignant and forever etched into my memory in the ‘romantic encounters’ segment of my mind, that I will give myself the liberty, just this once, to speak from my personal experience. And after-all, a special occasion, such as a one-year wedding anniversary, gives one the autonomy, not to mention the romantic inclination to speak only for themselves.
