Getting Started
1. Install the Google Earth Web browser pluggin as you will need it to view all 3D maps: Google Earth Browser Plugin Then quit and reopen your Web browser.
2. Create a new Mapcidy account by clicking the link top right-hand side of the screen that says “Create new account”.
3. After creating an account you will receive an activation email and password to log into your new Mapcidy account.
4. Once you are logged in, click ‘add a spot to my map’ found in the box in the top right.
5. The page will pop up and you should fill in the required text boxes. Start off by entering a title for your posting. Example: University Bookstore
6. Skip the neighborhood tab because by default all locations will direct you to a New York location.
7. Choose a category or subcategory for your posting, such as entertainment, sports, etc.
8. If you would like you can add your own tags into the tags text line. If you were adding your schools football stadium you could write: Football, tailgate….
9. Upload an image by clicking the browse button and searching for a saved image.
10. The Body section is set up just like a word document. You can write descriptions about the spot you are posting.
11. You must click on the Location link and enter the address of the spot you are adding to your map.
12. After that you can simply hit the save button and your new spot will be added to your map!
13. To have your map center on your city or University, click on the My Account link in the box on the right, then click on Edit my Account tab in the center, then click on the Personal Profile link and enter the address you want your map to center on and press the Save button at button.
To Note: All addresses must be exact addresses eg. 12 East 81st street. If a post is not showing up, please double check the address and try different spellings such as street instead of st You can easily create an account and start publishing to the map.
