Les Paul Dead at 94
Les Paul died recently at the age of 94. His innovations paved the way for rock 'n' roll both in the studio and in the solid-body electric guitar, which he pioneered in the late 1930s. Last November, he was honored by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in a concert at Cleveland's State Theater. An excellent guitarist in his own right, he shaped a musical culture that has revered his name since he first plucked America's electric heartstrings six decades ago.
