The guy in the big picture below is named Titus Welliver. He’s a journeyman actor who was really good in the underrated Gone Baby Gone and also in the short-lived but solid NBC show Life (which, thanks to DVD, I have been catching up on recently and enjoying very much.) But if you’ve been following Lost over the past season, you know him by one role only: The Man In Black. I’m not going to attempt to explain who he is on the show, mainly because I don’t understand it myself, but also because trying would make this article a lot longer than it needs to be.
Basically, the Man In Black is a mysterious and probably villainous supernatural character on Lost who was the subject of an immediately controversial and perplexing episode the other night (controversial because of how perplexing it was, considering that we are in the last couple episodes now). As I said, I can’t explain who or what the Man In Black is, but I can explain how he got his look, which is one part badass character actor and one part badass troubadour.
